Happy Monday everyone! RedGorilla is only TWO days away so pack your things and head to Austin, TX because this year is going to be the shit. We’ve got some of the country’s hottest independent music and we’re sharing it all with you FOR FREE!

In addition to FOUR full days of music we’ve got some really exciting parties, showcases, and special events taking place up and down 6th Street that you won’t want to miss.

Let’s start with Wednesday’s events.

3:30 pm Mad Dragon Records presents The Losw Anthem, Andrew Lipke& The Prospects, and Hoots and Hellmouth at the Thirsty Nickel. The showcase starts at 3:00 pm and will wrap up around 6:00 pm.

7:00 pm Also on Wednesday there will be an entire night of DJ’s, techno, and electronica at The Marq starting at 7:00 pm.

Thursday is packed with showcases all day long!

12:00 pm Play:stl will present Dan Craig, Rosemary’s Garden, Dear Future, and a special guest we can’t announce just yet. This showcase will start at noon and runs until 4 at The Chuggin’ Monkey.

12:00 pm Also on Thursday, Nina’s (Nuno’s Upstairs) will host the Naked Without Us fashion show, Nashville, Tenn.’s own version of Fashion Rocks. While some of the hottest fashions are taking the catwalk, there will be RedGorilla artists playing from noon to 4:00 pm and DJ’s spinning between sets. Bands playing during the show include Used Computers, Leslie, Sterling Y, Luna Halo, and The Hollywood Kills. DJ 12”, DJ Bo-pacalypse, and DJ Kidsmeal will also be spinning in between sets. Don’t miss this innovative combination of fashion and rock Thursday afternoon.

12:00 pm Thursday at the Blind Pig, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips presents Casxio, Queen Killing Kings, Iglu & Hartley, and a super secret special guest you’re going to love. The show will start at noon and runs until 4:00 pm.

4:00 pm Then at 4:00 pm Indie Extreme presents Quimi, Tracy Root, Matt Brower, Evangeline, and another secret guest that will be announced later on in the week.

4:00 pm Rounding out the night at Blind Pig, ABB Records presents the HOTTEST Hip/Hop showcase in Austin will a special lineup designed just for you.

7:00 pm At the Dizzy Rooster Thursday, Road to RedGorilla presents: Sunward, Airline, One Lone Car, Part Bear, and Your Electric Grandmother. This batch of Kansas City artists played hard on the Road to RedGorilla and now they’re here in Austin to share their music with you!

7:00 pm At The Marq Thursday there will be a full night of emcees and electronica courtesy of Dimensions of Sound. This showcase will feature DJ Platurn, 40 Love, Bayliens, DJ Eleven, Kev Choice, Keelay & Zaire, DJ J-Boogie, Trackademicks, DJ Amplive, Mistah FAB, Zion I & The Grouch, and of course, a special guest you’re sure to love.

Friday’s a busy day for RedGorilla. We’ve got several day parties, and showcases for you to check out in the morning and a late night-full of DJ’s.

12:00 pm Starting off the day right, Happy Salmon Productions presents Gabe Vitek & The Ivory at noon, followed by The Delta Saints and The Hollywood Ten down at Dizzy Rooster.

12:00 pm Paradise will host the Livin’ The Music showcase featuring special guests that will be announced later in the week.

12:00 pm Darwin’s Pub will host the UR Label Showcase from noon until 6:00 pm. For more information about the artists playing this showcase visit urlabel.net.

12:30-5:30 pm At Thirsty Nickel Old Flame Records will present The Winter Sounds, Mean Creek and Twin Tigers. We’ll kick off this event at 12:30 and keep it hot until 3:00 pm when Right Bank Music and DL Music jointly present their “Bands, BBQ, and Booze Showcase” Cody, Honey Ryder, and Bookmat feat. Taryn Mannning.

3:00 pm At 3:00 pm MJG Productions presents Speakeasy, Tim Palmieri, Javier Trejo, Roster McCabe, Heatbox, and White Iron Band, all at Nina’s (Nuno’s Upstairs). You’re going to love this set so don’t miss it.

4:00 pm Down at the Blind Pig, Broadjam presents Fedora, The Jimmy’s and The Motor Primitives for your listening pleasure. We’ll kick off this showcase at 4:00 pm and keep things rockin’ hard until 7:00 pm.

6:00 pm At 6:00 pm True North Records presents The John Henry’s followed by The Mojo Gurus over at The Chuggin’ Monkey.

6:30 pm Thirsty Nickel will host the North & South Party from 6:30 pm until midnight, Friday featuring RedRiot, The Sheepdogs, Painkiller Hotel, TELE, Luna Halo, and The Nods!

11:00 pm Also at Nina’s Emergenza will present Crossed Keys at 11:00 pm.

Finally, on Saturday there are a few showcases you’ve got to check out.

9:00 pm QUE Radio presents Carter Hickman and Paul Guevera starting at 9 pm!

11:00 pm Mike Pinder’s Bandwars Presents Kingsfall. This band is pure pop/rock with a grungy edge and a positive twist. You’ll love it, so make sure you check it out down at Paradise (upstairs).

The 2009 RedGorilla Music Festival will take place March 18-21 in the heart of downtown Austin on 6th street. Shows in participating RedGorilla venues are free and open to the public, bringing music lovers together to see, hear and experience the best in new and emerging musical talent.

 

The RedGorilla Music Festival is dedicated to promoting up-and-coming music in all genres by helping independent artists gain exposure to and awareness of industry, performance, product, and strategic marketing opportunities. Over the last six years, RedGorilla has grown immensely, working to provide more festival and showcasing opportunities for independent artists.

By late 2009 RedGorilla plans to expand to 15 international and national markets with programs such as Road To RedGorilla and partnerships with OurStage, ReverbNation and Flyfi.com.

RedGorilla Music Fest is extending the invitation to music lovers and musicians alike to come together and celebrate the best in new and independent music. The 2009 RedGorilla Music Fest will showcase nearly 350 artists and is now accepting submissions.

RedGorilla’s mission is to promote up-and-coming independent music in all genres and help independent artists further their careers. Last year RedGorilla hosted nearly 300 bands, solo artists, and DJs and expanded the event to eight stages. Due to its overwhelming success, the 2009 festival will continue to grow while upholding its reputation as the cool, rebel showcase that caters to talented artist from all parts of the world.

The 2009 RedGorilla showcases are scheduled take place from Wednesday, March 18th to Saturday, March 21st, during one of the most important music weeks of the year when the city of Austin, TX becomes the music industry’s premier destination, and thousands of fans and industry professionals descend upon Austin to network and discover new talent. RedGorilla showcases are held in venues on 6th Street, right in the heart of all the action. RedGorilla continues to be a “No Badge Required” event, it is free to attend, and is open to the general public.

New developments for the 2009 RedGorilla Music Fest include a key partnership with OurStage.com. OurStage.com is a web platform dedicated to new music and artist discovery. Because of their mutual ambitions to promote independent music, RedGorilla is confident that its partnership with OurStage will prove beneficial in contributing to showcasing the best in new and independent talent at the 2009 festival.

This year RedGorilla has partnered with OurStage introducing an online contest for artists to enter one song to be judged by the Ourstage.com community for the chance at securing a showcase at the 2009 RedGorilla Music Fest. OurStage will also provide an alternative online resource for artists to create free electronic press kits and a submission platform for those interested in showcasing at the RedGorilla Music Fest.

RedGorilla is now accepting showcase submissions. RedGorilla Music Fest prides itself on making these showcases the best experience possible for participating artists as well as their fans. Performance slots are open to bands, solo artists, and DJs of all genres. Take advantage of this excellent opportunity.
